San Luis Obispo (; Spanish: [san ˈlwis oˈβispo]; Spanish for 'St. Louis the Bishop'; Chumash: tiłhini) is a city and county seat of San Luis Obispo County, in the U.S. state of California. Located on the Central Coast of California, San Luis Obispo is roughly halfway between the San Francisco Bay Area in the north and Greater Los Angeles in the south. The population was 47,063 at the 2020 census.San Luis Obispo was founded by the Spanish in 1772, when Saint Junípero Serra established Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. The town grew steadily through the Mexican period before a rapid expansion of San Luis Obispo following the American Conquest of California.

Ascendo coffee is a coffee shop based in San Luis Obispo. We began with the idea of making the world a better place through our business. That idea remains at the core of our vision. We are truly humbled by all the beautiful relationships we have formed in our community.
We fell down the rabbit whole of roasting coffee in 2014 and haven't looked back since. It is the cornerstone of our passion for coffee. We have spent countless hours experimenting with roast profiling and rebuilding and modifying our roasters. We are confident in our ability roast specialty coffee consistently well.
In 2015, we moved from our tiny hole in the wall to a 2800 sq ft building two doors down from our original shop. With the help of some friends and family, we did all of the construction ourselves. It was an incredible and humble experience to build something from scratch with the help of the community that we helped create.
In 2017 we got a new name. Ascendo Coffee! Same people, same values, same coffee! Ascendo means "I rise" in latin. The whole of our journey can be described by rising from the very little we had at the beginning. We couldn't get up every morning without our coffee.

Great coffee. Was really impressed with the care that goes into making a drink here. The result was delicious. Both the latte and flat white we had were excellent!
Only speciality coffee shop in San Luis Obispo County who has consistent/quality espresso. They only use organic/fair trade ingredients and train their staff extensively on how to make espresso. Staff very friendly. Favorite spot for sure.
Convenient location that provides Wi-Fi with purchase. I love sitting with a latte and a pastry in this cafe. the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. I often see different treats that are always so tempting.
